Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is There An Alternative Method To Prepare Daolac Solution?
My daughter is 3.6 year old. She is suffering from loose motions and complaining of stomach pain. We consulted the doctor and he suggested Darolac sachet, but my daughter is not taking it. Can you suggest the way for preparing the solution so that my daughter takes the medicine.
Hi...Darolac is only a probiotic and not an essential medicine for lose stools. Sometimes it is very unpalatable and foul smelling and the kids will not take it easily. But you need not worry as it not an essential medicine in diarrhea. But if you still want to use it you can mix in 5-10 ml of plain water and administer it.
Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or blood in motion or green bilious vomiting...you need not worry. I suggest you use zinc supplements (Z&D drops 1ml once daily for 14 days) & ORS (Each small packet mixed in 200ml of potable water and keep giving sip by sip) as hydration is very important and crucial part of treatment. If there is vomiting you can use Syrup Ondansetron (as prescribed by your paediatrician). Regards - Dr. Sumanth
