HOWEVER, I STILL HAVE BOUTS OF DIARRHEA.....I GO BACK AND FORTH WITH CONSTIPATION AND DIARRHEA. IS THERE A DIFFERENT MEDICINE THAT I COULD TRY?

Hello,

Tricyclic antidepressants or Alosetron.

Low dose of tricyclic antidepressants like Imipramine, Nortriptyline are found be useful if you have diarrhea and abdominal pain. Side effects which might be reduced if you take the medication at bedtime include drowsiness, blurred vision, dizziness and dry mouth.

Alosterone is also recommended for of diarrhea-predominant IBS in women who haven't responded to other treatments.

These are prescription based medications so you need to consult your treating doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
