Is There A Way To Reduce The Power Of Sight In A 6 Years Old?
Dear Doctor,
My daughter is just 6.5 yrs. old and we just got her eyes checked and was shocked to know that she has cylindrical power of -3.5 in right eye and -4.5 in left eye. I am really surprised that she has never complained about the vision problem neither we have noticed any problems with her vision till 2 weeks back. The eye specialist has advised it’s inheritance and she could have it for past 1-2 years, now she must wear glasses all waking hours and there are rare changes that this number will reduce…will she be able to gain her full vision by continuously wearing the glasses?
I would greatly appreciate your advise on how to develop her full vision and if there are any changes that her number will reduce?

It seems from the history that your daughter is having refractive error.
There is no method to decrease the refractive error but precautions can be taken to prevent increase of refractive power.
She needs to wear glasses regularly, take healthy diet rich in vitamin A, regular eye check up once in a year to check for changes in refractive error and correction if required.
