Is There A Safer Alternative Of Lorazepam For The Treatment Of Anxiety And Depression?

have had panic, anxiety, depression for years. Seems to come in waves. Tried a lot of supplements, nothing seems to work. Take 10mg Citalopram once at night, sometimes helps. The only medication that really works is Lorazepam small doze 0.5mg. Isn t there any natural supplement that can do the work of Lorazepam, since I am told can be additive?

Hi,

Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine drug and if taken regularly for a long time then the drug can result in an addiction and there is high abuse potential. If the anxiety is controlled with Citalopram and there are only episodic exacerbations then you can take Lorazepam on an SOS basis without worries. However, regular use is not advised.

You can try Propranolol in low doses which is not addictive and is safe to use. The drug helps to control anxiety symptoms. Lorazepam can be kept for emergency situations only.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
