Is There A Relation Between Coumadin And Doxycycline Hyclate?

I just started taking Doxycycline Hyclate 100mg today at about 3:00PM. I took one (1) capsule. At approximately 9:30PM, I began experiencing rather intense itching (ches, back). Did a little research and it appears that there may be a problem if I take coumadin, which I do (2.5mg/day). Is there any correlation? Thanks for any assisstance you can give me. Hi & Welcome.

Doxycycline is an antibiotic commonly used to treat susceptible bacterial infections. If taken along with coumadin it may increase the blood-thinning effects of Coumadin like unusual bleeding or bruising.

You may need more frequent monitoring of your Prothrombin time or International normalized ration (INR) which should be kept in their normal ranges to safely use both medications.

However, based on the history given you seem to have developed allergic reaction to Doxycycline. Stop taking Doxycycline and consult your treating doctor for an alternate effective but safer antibiotic to treat your infection.

Hope this will help.
