Is There A Problem With My Thyroid?

I have had thyroid disease for several years and have been treated with synthroid. I just had my blood work done this week and received a call that my test came back and it is overcorrected. I have been on the same dosage for over a year. They want to decrease the dosage and I have recently lost weight through diet and exercise, is that going to cause me to gain back my weight? Is there a problem with my thyroid being overcorrected? I feel great.

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
You are taking synthroid because you are suffering from hypothyroidism.

Now if your your report suggest that it is over corrected that means now you have hyperthyroidism due to external thyroid hormone support.
Hyperthyroidism is the cause of weight loss. You should decrease the dosages of your synthroid to control thyroid level.

It will cause weight gain. But it is needed. There is definite problem in overcorrection of thyroid. So it should not be over corrected.
Consult your doctor and set the dosage of levothyroxin(synthroid) accordingly.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer.
