Is There A Correlation Between Hyperthyroidism And Gall Bladder Removal?

I had my gall bladder removed about 12 years ago. Since then, i have had a a few instances of hyperthyroidism that have been treated with methimazole. I took the medicine for about 6 months each time and then was ok for a few years before hyperthyroidism recurred. I am wondering if a link exists between not having a gall bladder and hyperthyroidism?

Hi, I have read your question and understand your concern regarding your illness.

There is no such co-relation between not having a gall bladder and hyperthyroidism. Continue taking methimazole as prescribed by your physician if there is recurrence and get your thyroid function tests done regularly.

Hope my answer will satisfy you.
Regards,
Dr. Maria Daud
