Is The Red And Swelled Belly Button Normal?

My baby is 6 weeks and 1 day. We went to the doctor today and he has an umbilical granuloma. The doctor treated it with silver nitrate. Now my sons belly button is slightly red and slightly swollen. Is this normal? Also how should I clean this from now on? Thankyou!

Hi...umbilical granuloma responds very well to Potassium permanganate usually or Mupirocin ointment. I suggest you get back to your paediatrician with these tips and get a prescription as these are prescription drugs.
