Is The Pain In Wrist And Neck Interrelated?

if I symptoms of radial styloid tenosynovitis in both wrists and xray and mri of neck shows signs of pinching of the nerves in the neck at C-5-6-7, how do we know if the neck problem is causing the wrist problems or if the wrist problems are causing the neck problem. I can feel a pulling sensation all the way from neck to wrists. I am concerned that wrist surgery will not help. please advise

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
The wrist problems& nerve pinching you have are different entities. They are not dependent on each other.
Tenosynovitis you have is inflammation of the sheath that surronds tendon which is responsible for movements of thumb. Here swelling / pain of thumb side of wrist is seen The thumb movement is affected.
The pain due to pinching of nerves in neck is nerve pain( tingling/burning/numbness) of the affected nerve area.,does not have swelling/difficulty in movements.
Thanks
