Is The Blood In Mucus Due To Sinus Infection?
I have had several sinus infections in the last 4 months. Recently I noticed blood in the mucous I m coughing up. I am a former smoker and wondering if I should have lung cancer screening, or is it possible that the bloody mucous is related to the sinus infections. I am currently on Zithromax, Flonase, Afrin, & 2 allergy/sinus meds for the latest sinus infection.

Thanks for your query. Blood in the mucus may occur from sinus infections and also due to lung pathology. To get a clear picture, please see an ENT physician for clinical & possibly radiological evaluation of the sinus condition.
