Is Tetanus Shot Necessary After Getting Injured By A Rusty Wire?

My husband got poked by a piece of rusty barbed wire in the foot through his shoe. It didn't go in too deep due to the shoe absorbing some of the wire but he does have a small piercing by his big toe. Should he get a tetanus shot? Should we soak the foot in peroxide?

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Clostridium tetani spores can be found most commonly in soil, dust and manure, but also exist virtually anywhere.
If deposited in a wound it causes tetanus

Wash the wound cleanly with soap water &
Get a tetanus shot immediately
