Is Tetanus Injection Required After Getting Hurt With Rusted Nail?

i caught heel on a nail sicking ou t of my stairs this morning the round end went into my heel bout a cm i went to a and e as havnt had tetenus shot sinc e i was 15 the doctor there said i didnot need on e a s i ha d them when i was a child.im very worried as the heels bee n bleeding for 12 hours and the nail was rusty and i wanted a tetenus jab ....shuld i be worried i cannot slep it s 1 am thinking i may have the infection barbara

Hello. I just read through your question. It sounds like you were appropriately vaccinated for tetanus through age 15y. Keep in mind, we all need an additional tetanus vaccine every 10 years after that. As long as we keep up to date with this, we don't have to worry about getting vaccinated after an incident. If not, then an additional tetanus vaccine should be administered.
