Is Taking Valsartan Safe While On Metoprolol?

Hello, I am currently taking 12.5 mg of metoprolol and just started taking 80 mg of valsartan, I also had my aortic valve replaced in May, so what kind of reactions can I expect...I do know the metoprolol makes my stomach boil like a pot, and sometimes nausea...my BP usually averages 140, 130 over 80/78...

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There is a possibility of interaction between valsartan and metoprolol. Both of these medications can increase the level of potassium so there is the chance of high levels.

The combination is also not recommended in persons with heart failure so if this is the case you, it is best to speak to your doctor.

I hope this helps
