Hello Calaptin 40(verapamil) is prescribed for supraventricular arrhthmias , hypertension . Since you were taking this drug for 10 years . Inspite of this drug you also took alcohol . Verapamil increase blood alcohol levels. Doctor also advised losartan ( angiotensin II antagonists ) and this regulated your High BP . Calaptin is also uses for high blood pressure . Losartan is also advised for high blood pressure . So together they may decrease the blood pressure . In my opinion ,consult your Cardiologist and get his opinion. 2nd option is use only calptine and avoid the use of cigars and alcohol , as it will maintain both irregular heart beat as well high blood pressure. Hope this will help you.
