My doctor wants to do surgery on a torn miniscus. I have had no problems with my knees until I tripped, which caused a torn miniscus. The doctor said I have some arthritis on that knee and he will scrap it off when he repairs my miniscus. Is this common do to? I am concerned because I have had no knees problems before.

Its treatment is quadriceps exercises and analgesic such as ibuprofen as it reduces swelling and pain. Arthroscopic surgery is indicated if you have some problems in knees such as locking and effusion. If you have no problem before injury of arthritis then there is no need to do scrapping.
