Is Surgery Required For Myxoid Degeneration Causing Knee Pain?
I am a 46 year old male, i had a MRI last Nov 2013 due to pain on my left knee for about a month. the pain started after a long walk going uphill,. The impressions on the MRI are as follows: -Myxoid degeneration, anterior horn of the lateral meniscus -Consider anterior cruciate ligament cyst -Mild degenerative joint changes -suprapatellar bursitis My doctor advised surgery if i can t bear the pain. Is surgery really necessary? Do i have other option? It s been 3 months and the pain persists, what can I do to ease the pain?
I think surgery is a right option for you. The surgery will be through arthroscope so incision will be very small, and you will not need any bed rest, you can walk from very next day of the surgery. Meniscus degeneration pain will not go only with medication.
