Is Surgery Needed If Having Anterior Wall Intramural Fibroid, Thickened Endometrium?
HI, MY MOTHER AGE 53 YEARS UTERUS SIZE 88 *54*62MM ENDOMETRIUM: 11MM, THINKENED MYOMETRIUM:SHOWS ANTERIOR WALL INTRAMURAL FIBROID MEARSURING-2.5*2.3CM. RIGHT OVARY 36*24MM NORMAL LEFT OVary 34*24mm normal PLEASE HELP ME IS IT NEED FOR SURGERY/MEDICINE
The fibroid is small. I would like to know the reason for doing the ultrasound. If it was done for bleeding issues, or symptoms of fibroid, then maybe surgery or medical management is needed. If she does not have symptoms, such small fibroids do not need any treatment. Your mother is already in the menopausal age, if she has attained menopause, fibroid will more likely regress after some days.
The endometrium is thick, better do an endometrial biopsy or a D and C or a hysteroscopy to evaluate it further. All these procedures collect tissue from the uterus for analysis to diagnose the cause of thickening.
