Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recently started having nagging like headaches and was prescribed Topamax. I also went and seen the eye doctor today due to having some blurry vision and headaches. I also feel tension in my neck sometimes and feel like I can feel pressure In my ears. At the eye doctor appointment he showed me my pictures to where my optic nerve had swelling. The way he described it to me {Kind of left me hanging} was either I pretty much have a tumor or I have spinal fluid build up. He has scheduled an MRI for me. I am terrified! my anxiouty is through the ruff! Any statistics? can this be cured without surgery? Could it be something less serious? I haven t been sick or anything...I have felt fine other than tacking on a little extra stress to life from buying a business to going to school with being a full time mom. Please help! and thank you!
Swelling or edema of optic nerve can be a sign of increased intracranial pressure( pressure inside the brain). Possible causes like space occupying lesions in the brain must be ruled out. You can proceed with an MRI to get a better clinical picture.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
