Is Surgery Needed For Fracture In Fibula?

I got a fibula fracture on 19.4.2016. The fracture is just above ankle and clearly visible in the x ray. My doctor says surgery is not needed. Even after 25 days, the vertical crack seems to be the same without healing (as per x ray 3rd time). My doctor says 6 weeks are necessary for complete cure. Is there any chance of non-alignment (means irregular union of bone) ?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Possibly a risk of that. If it turns out it doesn't heal sufficiently, it may be possible with a bone graft, but most likely, it doesn't matter. Especially if you do not have any pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
