Is Surgery Advisable For Severe Back Pain?

Hello Dr, I have a severe occassionally lower back pain at the disc, about ten years ago I tried to lift heavy tool at my work and did it the wrong way and caused injury to my lower back. I was afraid to visit a doctor for a while and was taking Lyrica 75 mg sometimes to relief the pain, eventually after ten years I got the courage to visit a doctor, he did X-RAY on my spine and found L4 & L5 are slightly damaged, he checked my legs and movement and said I should be OK but told me not to lift heavy loads. He prescribed to me NERVAX-75 MG and CELEBREX-200 MG for short term pain relief. My question is, do I have to continue on medication or should I go for surgery and treat my back pain for good? My doctor said I should take the medicine for sometime and see the progress of my treatment. I also would like to know more about those prescribed medicine (NERVAX & CELEBREX) do they have any addiction?

Thanks for asking at Healthcare Magic. I read your question and I understand your concern.
Back Pain with slight damage of L4, L5 doesn't need surgery. It will resolve with good conservative management.
Only medications are not helpful,
you have also to concentrate on Back muscle excersizes, aerobic excersize 30 minutes a day five days a week. Avoid abnormal posture. Sleep on flat hard surface, massage and topical analgesics are also helpful.
Nervax and celbrex does not cause addiction as it doesn't contain benzodiazepines barbiturates or morphine like substances.
Hope it helps best.
Take your best care.
