Is Sugar Level Of 142 Mg/dl Normal During Pregnancy?

Hi Doctor, my wife is pregnant for 7 weeks. She also conceived 2 month prior to this but somehow couldn't continue. Now our her dr has asked us to get many reports done. Her reported blood sugar (random) was 142 mg/dl, where as range written in the report statement is70-140. Request please suggest if the same is worth worrying or its normal. Her mother was also reported diabetic on lighter side.

Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.Random blood sugar more than 142 mg/dl is slightly more than normal. To detect diabetes mellitus, she should get her oral glucose tolerance test with 75 g glucose. Since there is a family history of diabetes mellitus, she should get the test done to detect diabetes mellitus.
Hope you found the answer helpful. Please do get back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
Regards,
Dr Deepti Verma.
