Is Stomach Pain With Reduced Fetal Movement At 25 Weeks Dangerous?

I'm 25 weeks pregnant and have had nausea, heartburn and a stomach ache for a week now. With it I've noticed a reduction in fetal movement. I do have the 10 in an hour kick count, but it's nowhere near as much movement as previous weeks. Should I worry?

Hi and welcome to HCM
There is no set number of kicks you should feel, and there's no need to keep a written record or chart of your baby's movements. Charts aren't particularly helpful for telling whether or not there's a problem. It's easy to forget to fill charts in, and if the results are inaccurate, you'll become worried unnecessarily.

Instead, tune in to your baby's pattern of movements during waking hours. As your pregnancy progresses, it gets easier to learn this rhythm. Every baby has a different pattern of waking and sleeping, but you'll come to know what is normal for your baby.

If you notice a change in your baby's pattern of movements and if you unsure of this then contact your doctor.

If you haven't concentrated on feeling these sensations, you may have missed them. To help you to focus and count your baby's movements, lie on your side with support under your bump. Stay still for a couple of hours, during which time you should feel at least ten separate movements.

If still not feeling movements then its high time to contact your doctor for help.

To prevent nausea and heart burn follow these instructions
1.Eat little and often to prevent heartburn and nausea. An empty stomach can increase nausea.
2.avoid rich, spicy, acidic or fried foods, and eat less fat in general as they tend to irritate your stomach lining resulting in the production of more gastric acid

3.Do not lie down after a meal. If you move about a bit, you're less likely to throw up the food

4.Try drinking between meals if you're finding it hard to keep fluids down, and limit drinks during meals. Be sure to drink regularly

5.Have a spoon of diluted ginger juice mixed with honey every morning. Ginger is known to settle stomachs and help nausea. However, ginger should be used in moderation and with care – it doesn't help everyone.

6.If iron tablets are aggravating your nausea, discuss the alternatives with your doctor.

7.Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) or a pregnancy multivitamin may reduce pregnancy sickness and also some drugs like doxinate can control vomiting, but do take this medication under your doctor care.

If nothing helps, then consult doctor immediately for management of excess nausea and heart burn
