Is Stomach Discomfort A Side Effect Of Vibramycin Intake?

I am taking Doxycycline Hyclate 100 MG capsules twice a day for prostate infection. I am supposed to take for 30 days but my after 10 days, my stomach is upset and I am hesitant to take any more. Can this generic of Vibramycin 100 MG cause stomach problems?

Vibramycin is composed of 'Doxycycline', which belongs to the class of medications known as tetracyclines. It is an antibiotic that is used to treat certain infections that are caused by bacteria.

Any form (generic or branded) of this medication can cause the following symptoms as its side effects.

1. Abdominal pain.
2. Mild diarrhoea.
3. Flushing.
4. Loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting.
5. Stomach upset.
6. Tooth discoloration.

It is not advisable to stop taking the medication as it is causing side effects.

Stomach upset can be overcome by taking liquid antacids or Omeprazole once daily on empty stomach.

Kindly continue the medication as prescribed. If the symptoms of side effects are severe and bothersome, seek medical attention promptly.
