My fiancee has staph infection on the amputee leg he is currently in the hospital being treated for that. He was in the hospital from March to May he came home the end of May the doctor looked at his leg in May while in was in the hospital and their were no problems. He has not been in the hospital since may theirs a nurse that comes twice a week to treat his amputated wombs. And I am non certified but I help on the days when the nurse is not their with gloves. My question to you could staph be airborn in the house. And could he have caught staph from being in the house. We have no Children.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Staph bacteria normally recede in skin or nasal mucus membrane. It spreads by skin to skin contact or handling contaminated things like blanket, handkerchief. It does not spread by air (not airborne).

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
