Is Slight Pain In Breasts While On Spironolactone A Cause For Concern?

I have been taking 50 mg of spironolactone every morning. I have been experiencing a slight pain in both of my breasts. I am a male. I informed the doctor and he told me it was a side effect of this drug and not to worry. Then it was one breast, now both. Is this really nothing to worry about?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is a potential side effect of the spirnolactone, it is an anti androgen and can be associated with changes in the breasts.

If the pain continues or any other changes such as enlargement occur and are intolerable, you may need to discuss this with your doctor.

I hope this helps
