Hello, it could be both... Citalopram may indeed cause sleepiness. If you ve been having sleepiness since the day you started citalopram then this is a likely cause. If you had sleepiness before that then depression may be the cause. Citalopram is used to treat depressive symptoms, therefore it may be the solution to your problem. This is something you ll have to discuss with the treating doctor though, as the doctor is the only person who knows why this drug was prescribed. I hope I ve answered your question.
