Is Skin Peeling, Stomach And Genital Rashes, Diarrhea Due To Strep Throat?

My 4 year old son was diagnosed with strep throat 2 weeks ago. He had a high fever for 4 days (could ve been longer as I stopped checking after his antibiotics) red eyes, red lips with peeling chapped skin, swollen neck, red throat with blister like bumps inside. I noticed after a few days that he had a red rash all over his stomach and genital area. He was treated with antibiotics and everything seemed fine until a few days ago when I noticed his skin peeling on all of his toes, he has stomach pains and diarrhea for that last few days. Is this normal after strep throat? Should I be concerned that this may have been something else even though his strep test came back positive? Thanks so much!

Hi,

No, this is not normal for strep infection, you may need to see a doctor to examine your son, this peeling of the skin is not normal.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
