Is Sharp Pain Under Left Rib Cage While Breathing A Symptom Of Bronchitis?

my husband experienced sharp pains from under his left rib cage around to his back this morning while breathing....he told me just now it's eased up, but not fulling gone. He said it feels like his rib is broke, but I don't know how that can be as he's not been coughing nor moving around much. Could this also be bronchitis? I recall experiencing the same pains while breathing, but of course I don't want to diagnose it myself.

This pain is sharp and acute in nature , so not a pain due to bronchitis ,but may be .
1 Pneumonitis or consolidation of lung left lower lobe.Diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest .
2 Thickened pleaura is also responsible for such type of pain. Diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest .
3 Sprain of the muscles underlying this area . Only physical and clinical history of illness will find out the exact reason of pain.
In my opinion consult a physician and get an Xray of the chest and deal accordingly.
