Is Sharp Abdominal Pain Normal After A Miscarriage?

I had a miscarriage at 6wks yesterday. I had severe cramping with large blood clots and passed tissue. I am still having abdominal pain with bleeding and it hurts in my lower abdomen to pee to where I want to cry. My bum hurts too. Like a sharp stinging pain when trying to use the restroom. Do I need to go to the ER or is this normal?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If the process of abortion is complete the pain will subside usually. As you are still having bleeding with pain, the possibility of incomplete abortion should be ruled out. In that case, better to consult your gynecologist once get examined and undergo ultrasound. This will help in finding out any retained products of conception. Minimal products can be dealt with prostaglandins, if the products are more, you may need minor surgical procedure like dilation and curettage under antibiotic coverage.

Hope I have answered your query.
