Is Removal Of 5 Meters Of Small Intestine Possible In A Bowel Resection Surgery?
Hi My Wife had a car accident which resulted in her having a operation to remove a portion of her small intestine. The operation report state s that 2metres of small intestine remains. Would i be correct in assuming that 5 metres of small intestine was removed? Thank you for your help kindest regards Bob

In humans, the small intestine is about 6 meters or 20 feet long and the large intestine is about 1.5 meters or 5 feet long.
Removal of 5 metres of small intestine might not be possible in bowel resection surgery.
Kindly check whether both intestines put together was resected which was length amounting to 5 metres.
