Is Radiation Suggested In Case Of Parathyroid Tumor?

On regarding the thyroid. I was diagnosed hyperthyroidism and urged to do the radiation. I looked further into my illness and actually discovered that I had a parathyroid tumor. The specialist that I went to did a very simple surgery and removed one of the four para thyroids that were behind my thyroid. In two months my lab work was excellent. My point is do, not rule out the parathyroid diagnosis when someone has all of the symptoms of hyperthyroidism. I went through Norman Parathyroid Clinic and had the surgery at Tampa General Hospital.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your question and understand your concern.

Hyper parathyroidism and hyperthyroidism are two entirely different situations. Hyperparathyroidism results in high calcium in blood and problems like tiredness, constipation etc related to that. While hyperthyroidism results in palpitation diarrhoea, heat intolerance etc.

We do calcium profile to diagnose hyperparathyroidism while thyroid function will tell you if you are hyperthyroid. I think no GP will misdiagnose hyperthyroidism for a hyperparathyroidism.

You probably might have hyperthyroidism and hyperparathyroidism. While removing parathyroid part of thyroid is also removed that would have resulted in cure of hyperthyroidism and hyperparathyroidism.

Please check your histopathology report and let me know.

Good luck.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help
