Is Pulse Rate Of 60 Bpm A Cause For Concern?

Hi I have been very healthy all my life. Was a marathon runner for 20 years. I just walk every day now . At age 66 now I have just noticed while checking my pulse over the last month my heart beat seems to skip every forth beat. Average pulse rate 60bpm. Is this something that s needs to be checked out

Welcome to healthcaremagic.com. Good day to you, I must say that a heart rate of 60 bpm is very good, the issue is that you are having skipped beats, this may be a sign that you have Atrial fibrillation. If this is the case, it is worth knowing, now unless you have other things like
1. heart failure,
2. high blood pressure
3. Diabetes or
4. have had a stroke or coronary heart/vascular issues, you would not need treatment maybe an aspirin a day.
Now the first test to disprove that you have Atrial fibrillation is an ECG/EKG that can be done at your doctors office and then you can go from there. I hope that this helps you out, good luck and thank you for your question.
