Is Pressure In The Head Indicative Of Tension Headache?

I m 34 years old. I have a headache. Tightness or pressure in my entire face and head. Especially behind my eyes and at my temples. My ears feel like they have cotton in them. About a month ago I experienced the same symptoms but at the time I also felt dizzy, disoriented and drunk. I was slurring my words and acting and feeling quite silly. I also vomited a couple of times. My eyes eyes ache; and they feel like they are a liquid but not runny. Should I see a Dr. or is this probably a tension headache?

Hello,

Since you are having symptoms of tightness or pressure in the face associated with pain or discomfort behind the eyes or temples you are suggested to get clinically examined for Sinusitis by an ENT. Get X-Ray PNS done to detect any nasal deviation or other pathology that triggers your sinus issues. Sinus infection causes congestion in the tissues. Due to nasal congestion pressure may be felt in the forehead, face, cheeks, behind the eyes, even discomfort in the ears.

Sinus problems often trigger tension headache , migraine or ear problems. Get your sinuses treated at the earliest. you will need a course of antibiotics. You can take antihistamines and nasal congestants for relieve. Do steam inhalation regularly. Topical nasal cortico-steroids are also effective. Since you also have symptoms of dizziness and disorientation, take Audiology test to detect any symptoms of Vertigo.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
