Is Pregnancy Possible With Removed Nuvaring?

Iv been on the nuvaring for a few years now I normally leave it on for 4 weeks then replace it right away to avoid getting a period. Every few months I get a period, I recently just had a period about 2 months ago and a few days ago I began spotting (icky brownish stuff) (I am also only in week 3). 2 days ago I removed the ring before having sex and had forgotten to put it back in. Could I get pregnant?

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, though less but still there is chances of pregnancy. I would suggest that if you miss your periods, do a urine pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sujoy S. Bhattacharjee, OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine
