Is Pregnancy Possible While On Birth Control Pills?
Hey quick question. My girlfriend and I had sex 22 days ago (she is on the pill and it was right after her period). We have only done oral since. Today after fingering her (kindof rougher then usual I do admit), she told me that she had a light red and brown discharge. I immediately thought of implantation discharge and I was instantly scared of pregnancy. The numbers dont add up though. Any reassurance would be great or any insight into what this could be. Thank you
Bleeding can be due to different causes. If she has not missed a period yet it is early to think of pregnancy even though pregnancy can happen in patients with birth control pills as no method is 100% (even though it is rare).
I would say that she might need a visit with the doctor to rule out problems of the cervix and have a pap smear is she did not have one in the last 1-2 years. She also might be tested for sexually transmitted diseases to be on the safe side.
If all the examinations are normal then there is nothing to worry. If her periods get delayed then she will need a pregnancy test.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
