Is Pregnancy Possible While On An IUD?

Hello, I was on hormonal birth control for three years (I took the pill). I recently switched over to the copper IUD, ParaGard. My first period with it was fine, just very heavy with lots of cramps. I used to get my periods like clockwork, every 29 days. I had a broken condom situation recently but didn t think anything of it because of the ParaGard, however it is now day 35 in my cycle and I haven t started. Should I be worried?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think the delayed periods may hormonally cause because the proper use of intrauterine device (IUD) has less than 1% chance of pregnancy. Anyway, take a pregnancy home test.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
