Is Pregnancy Possible Through Intercourse While On Birth Control Pills?
Hi I have pcos and I am on birth control and I am currently on sprintec birth control and I am having my period every two weeks so far and I had my period the other day and it only lasted for a day and it was light spotting and it was a bright red almost orangish color and the next day it stopped but then I had server cramps that but no spotting or bleeding . I am sexually active and have not missed a pill and we also use condoms . Is there an explantion for this?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Protection against pregnancy is more than 99% while on birth control pills. Also, since you are using condom, it provided additional protection to prevent pregnancy from happening as well as preventing transmission of STIs. What problems you are experiencing with cramps and spotting are some of the minor side effects while on birth control pills. Such symptoms does not require any intervention and should subside gradually over a period of time. Since you are regular in taking birth control pills, chances of pregnancy is unlikely. Kindly continue with the medication as advised by your doctor and do the necessary follow-up as suggested. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
