Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking An I-Pill After Unprotected Intercourse?

I am 21. I had unprotected sex. I took an ipill after 3 to 4 hrs. It s been three days since my ingestion of the pill. I have not yet experienced any bleeding or any body pain. I am a little concerned about my pregnancy.. Is the pill having its effect?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I pill is effective in preventing pregnancy to more than 97% when taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. So your chance of pregnancy is very less. But still, if your next period delayed then rule out pregnancy by urine HCG card test because the pill is not 100% effective. Next time use barrier method if you want to avoid conception.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
