It needs to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sexual intercourse or in case of failure of a contraceptive method to prevent accidental or unwanted pregnancy. What you have done is right by taking the pill at the earliest. The pill would prevent pregnancy by causing withdrawal bleeding within 3 weeks from the day of its intake. it is recommended to use other contraceptive means like condoms or spermicide until the next menstrual periods resume. In case there is delay in getting periods by 3 weeks, you need to seek medical attention immediately. Hence, kindly wait until the period for bleeding to happen.
