I had my period for 7 days - 2 days after my period I started cramping . Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Plan B is an emergency contraceptive pill. It needs to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. Earlier the pill is taken, protection seems to be better. To be protected from pregnancy, you need to get breakthrough bleeding within 3 weeks from the day of intake of the pill. Kindly use barrier methods like condom to ensure proper protection during sexual activities until you get the bleeding in the form of periods. In case you don't bleed by 3 weeks, you need to seek medical attention immediately. The failure rate of such emergency contraceptive pill is about 10 to 15%. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
