Is Pregnancy Possible A Week Before Menstruation?

Is it possible to get pregnant a week before you period. I think I ovulated on Wednesday 16th and had unprotected sex on the 15th. I believe that I became pregnant during this time. I had a very short and light period that started on March 22nd and it now over yesterday the 24th. I know implantation can take up to 12 days in some cases. Is it possible that the egg implantated after my period was done?

Hello,

Implantation bleeding is fresh bleeding seen six to twelve days after fertilization, often close to the next menstrual period. In the manner you have described, you are likely to have conceived. The spotting is more likely to be an implantation bleed. To clarify, please get a home pregnancy test three to seven days after the expected period along with a transvaginal or pelvic sonogram to confirm pregnancy and to know the status of the pelvic organs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Shanti Vennam
