Is Positive ACLA IGA A Matter Of Concern?

I am 53 years female and have been recently tested positive for ACLA IgA. Actually the test was carried out as a follow-up of persistent pain due to elbow surgery done 6 months ago. Please advise what should be done. Is this amatter of concern? Thanks

Hi!
welcome to HCM!
ACLA stands for Anti-cardiolipin antibodies ,they are acquired autoantibodies produced against cardiolipins. They are produced by the immune system against our own cells, tissues, and/or organs and attack them causing inflammation & damage. They increase the patient's risk of developing recurrent inappropriate blood clots in the blood vessels.thrombocytopenia, recurrent miscarriages,. Anti-cardiolipin antibodies can be classified as IgA; IgG; IgM.test is done to detect the presence of cardiolipin antibody IgA/ IgG/ IgM which play an important role in the body's ability to regulate blood clotting. It helps to investigate the formation of inappropriate blood clot which may cause pain and swelling due to the thrombotic episodes in the extremities as you had persistent pain in arms. a prolonged PTT (activated partial thromboplastin time),is associated with this.A careful follow up and consultation with rheumatologist is advised.
