Is Painful, Swollen Lymph Node Under Collar Bone A Reaction To Typhoid Vaccine?

Hi, I had the typhoid/Hep A vaccine two weeks ago. A few days ago I woke up with a sore shoulder and noticed a sore, firm swollen lymph node just under my collar bone. It has still been very painful around the collarbone area. I have no other symptoms. Is this a reaction to the vaccine? My son had the typhoid vaccine and has a soft swollen gland in his armpit.

General & Family Physician 's  Response

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this swollen lymph nodes. Painful lymph nodes are referred to as adenitis can result from an infection or a reaction to an infection in the area drained by this gland. I will suggest that you get consulted t make sure this is a lymph gland and also rule out other possible causes like abscess. When the exact diagnosis is established, we would be able to tell whether this is related to the vaccine or could it be an all new infection. A primary care doctor would be able to handle this.

I hope this addresses your query fully. Feel free to ask for clarifications and more information if need be. I wish you well. Thanks for utilizing our services, we very much appreciate it.
