Is Pain Normal During Or After Mamogram?

I had breast reduction surgery last summer and am still tender/very sore at times. Because of this, I am afraid to do my scheduled mamogram, as I would cry in pain after mamograms the last few years. (Dr. did remove quite a few fibroids.) I have been having mamograms every year since age 35 but now I m scared to get one this year. Is this pain/fear normal? I dread the thought of the compression. Is anything done differently for those who are still in pain after reduction?

Hello,

I don't think that mammography can be painful after the surgery you had.
I think you should keep doing it as usual to control yourself.
I think the pain that you are having after surgery may be caused by the formation of fibrotic tissue which is stretching it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
