Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Pain In The Legs A Side Effect Of Taking Eliquis?
I was switched from warfarin to eliquis in December 2017. Within months I could no longer take my usual walk of two laps around the local mall. Now I cannot walk more than a block before my legs become too painful to continue. I have to stop and rest.
Eliquis (Apixaban), newer oral anti-coagualnt might have caused minor bleeding (microvasvular) in soft tissues of lower limb muscles, causing painful cramps / claudication. Go for PT (prothrombin time) and adjust the dosage to keep INR between 2 & 3 (or as your physician wants).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. K. Biswas
