Is pain in knee with little cracking during physical exercise a cause for concern?

After a fairly steep hike, I have had quite a bit of knee pain for several days. My knees crack a bit when I get up, but once I m walking a bit it seems alright. I am 62 and i know I am not a spring chicken. Do you think its something serious? Elizabet

Hi,

It is called morning stiffness usually seen in osteoarthritis and rhemato-arthritis and if is for more than 30 mins after you awake up from bed. You need to show some concern and seek a medical examination so as to prevent the further complication of these.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Abhishek Khera, General Surgeon
