Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has chronic bronchitis and have tried just about everything. he is on Moxifloxacin and Prednisone he s been on them since Dec 28 and he is not improving at all. he still has a horrific cough. I have tried natural remedies. ie steam, hot teas. He also has COPD for quite a number of years . Now he is complaining of a very sore left side pain from coughing .Is it possible he could have cracked a rib? Could it have anything to do with his leaking mitral valve.
It is possible that the pain is due to pleuritis (inflammation of the pleura which is the lining outside the lungs) or inflammation of the muscles in the chest from coughing.
He may also need to be on medication to open the airways such as salbutamol , this would help to reduce the cough. A mucolytic to help him bring out any mucus present in the chest would also help eg bisolvan, mucomyst, guaifenesin
I hope this helps
