Is Pain And Hardness In Vein After Drawing Blood, Normal?
Hi I had blood drawn 4 days ago for iron count and full blood work. the phabotimist had difficulty finding a vein. eventually she got one. i have a bruise which i know is normal but the vein she got feels hard and sore and aches like i have to keep it straight. Is this normal?
I can understand your concern for hardness in vein after drawing blood on IV needle insertion.
After reading your query it appears to be simple bruise over the vein. The very first and important thing to tell you is your bruise or rash is not at all a thing of worry for you.
It is a simple collection of blood due to minor injury to the very fine blood vessels under the skin by the needle during the procedure of blood collection. Due to this blood gets collected and causes reddish to bluish discoloration of skin. It will be changing to blackish color then greenish and then will be fading away in 10 -14 days. You need not do anything for the same.
If at all you feel any increase in the hardness or pain or swelling in the area the can meet the treating doctor.
All the best.
