Hello im new at asking this but ../ I had the birth control nexplanon for 6 years... just last week February 1st I had it removed I did not bleed but the condom my husband and I used broke .. I haven't had my period though even when my nexplanon was taking out but now after having sex with him and that happened I have sometimes a 2/4 second cramp in my right side ovary: throughout the day but it is sporadic obviously it is too soon for a pregnancy test since the condom broke Sunday of this week but is it possible ? Before I had nexplanon I had irregular periods but is it possible to have conceived ? Sorry if my question is confusing or dumb..
Hi , How are you doing ? It is not at all a dumb question. Nexplanon is a hormonal releasing implant, which maintains the hormone level even for few months after removal. So I mean to say that , even if the condom broke, you will be still under protection of the hormone During these years the hormones from the implant, suppresses the body's hormones. The body stops producing the hormones needed for normal ovulation, even after removal, the hormone gradually fades away, then gradually the body's hormones pick-up. So it takes longer for the ovulation to start. Don't take it as a perfect contraceptive. I meant the chances are very low. Usually the cramps in the sides are due to the improved blood supply to ovaries & the hormonal release gradually from the ovary. If you are still in doubt , can check Urine for pregnancy test or confirmatory - Serum Beta HCG Hope I have clarified your query, do write back ifany more queries All the best Dr.Balakrishnan
