Is Numb And Sore Tongue And Dry Mouth Post Intake Of Vyvanse A Cause For Concern?
Hello,
I took Vyvanse yesterday and got my usual dry-mouth. However, when I woke up this morning, I found myself having a rather sore, almost numb feeling tongue. You know the feeling when you scald your tongue on hot coffee? It feels like the tip/bottom of my tongue has been scalded in that fashion. Is this normal? Will it go away soon? Thanks!
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain Dry mouth is due to side effect of Vyvanse and it is a common side effect while sore and numb tongue with a feeling of scalding seems to be like the symptoms of Burning Mouth Syndrome secondary to Dry mouth..
You should consult your treating physician and get evaluated and if possible he/she can either change the dose of the medicine or can replace with other drugs..
As a part of supportive treatment you can gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine for relief from soreness and burning.. Sucking ice pops and gargle with cold water will relieve.. Avoid spicy and hot foods.. Chew sugar free chewing gum as it helps in stimulating saliva flow.. Saliva substitute containing Methyl Cellulose can be instilled in mouth for lubrication.. Drink lots of water..
Hope this information helps..
